Description:  Developmental Services Ontario helps adults with developmental disabilities connect to services and supports in their communities. There are nine agencies across Ontario to serve you. Our organizations are funded by the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services.

Wherever you live in Ontario, we can help you or someone you care for to connect with available

  • residential supports
  • caregiver respite
  • community participation supports (like recreation, volunteering, employment, or in-home supports)
  • professional and specialized services
  • person-directed planning
  • and other supports to help people with developmental disabilities become more involved in their communities!

ConnectABILITY   (No cost tool)
Description: A website and virtual community dedicated to lifelong learning and support for people who have an intellectual disability, their families and support networks.

STEPS to Independence  (No cost tool)
Description: STEPS To Independence is a guidebook that provides an opportunity for individuals with an intellectual disability to determine how prepared they are for semi-independent living. It provides a holistic tool to prepare someone for semi-independent living by identifying current skills, determining skill areas for improvement (where more learning can happen) and next steps to focus on.

Description: Learning. Experience. Goals.
LEG Up! is a learning and skill building program for adults. LEG Up! provides education and training which will open doors to obtaining valuable experiences, including:

  • Employment
  • Community Inclusion
  • Volunteerism
  • Independent Living

LEG Up! is a welcoming and accessible place with a computer area, cash register training hub, and a fully equipped kitchen.   LEG Up! offers small, interactive group sessions based on your goals, needs, interests, and schedule.

The Working Centre (No Cost)

Description: The Working Centre can help you to connect with safe, affordable housing and immediate shelter in Waterloo Region. They also have an employment program.
Each year The Working Centre distributes over 2100 stickers that assist in making the transit system more affordable for people living on a limited income.

Woolwich Community Health Services has three cookbooks that incorporate pictures of the ingredients and easy to follow instructions.

Camp Kennebec (For Fee)

Summer camp, Arden, Ontario. Registration begins in October for the following year.
